Ahearne, Ahern, Aherne, Hearn, Hearne, Ó hEachtighearna.

Ó hEachtighearna means ‘lord of horses’, and Ahern is the Anglicisation of this Gaelic name. The clan was part of the Dál gCais tribal grouping, and their territory was originally in the south east of the country, but they subsequently moved to counties Cork, Limerick and Waterford. Today, Ahern is one of the 100 most numerous surnames in Ireland, and is most numerous in counties Cork and Waterford.

The hand knit Ahern sweater has an unusual three-column pattern of interlocking cables, incorporating moss stitch also. The cable stitch is symbolic of good luck and the moss stitch represents nature. This beautiful Aran sweater has been hand knitted in the traditional báinín colour, the natural white of the wool. It comes to you complete a clan history and crest. It is made of 100% pure Irish wool, is water repellent and breathable. It has been hand crafted in the traditional Irish style, and, with care, will last a lifetime.
