The UPS man just delivered two of the nicest sweaters I ever tried on, and the fit is perfect. Happy is too inadequate a term to define my glee at the feel. look, quality, and texture of the two turtlenecks you sent me. I have been looking for this fit and feel ever since I portrayed writer Ernest Hemingway in my graduate thesis monodrama in 1978. I shall go to bed a happy man, and though the winds of old man winter do not bite overmuch here in the Florida panhandle, I know I will be both warm and fashionable where ever I may roam. Thanks again for your muchly appreciated help,

My mother received her beautiful Aran sweater this afternoon. What made it even more exciting for her was that when it arrived she was visiting with her fellow seniors in the community room. The receptionist brought in the box from Ireland and my mother responded that it couldn't possibly be for her. She opened it up and tried it on. She says it's absolutely beautiful and a perfect fit. Thank you for your kind assistance. I know she will treasure it. Also, it was fun to track its movement using the UPS tool online. It arrived exactly on the day it was said to arrive. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for the great site! My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Ireland and absolutely loved it! I am looking for a sweater for my grandmother. Her maiden name was Shaha (pronounced Shea-Hay). Her parents migrated to New Mexico, USA from Ireland before she was born. I was wondering what clan Shaha would fall under. Thanks!

My grandmother on my father's side last name was O'Neill. I am so happy that there is actually a pattern for that clan. It's very edifying to keep our traditions and pass them down through the ages. I don't think there esists a better web site then this one to buy beautiful precious soft wool attire. The prices are very resonable considering.

When in Ireland last month, I purchased the knitting pattern for our clan - Egan. I would love to knit hats for my 2 adult sons and husband using the pattern, but I need a hat pattern. Can anyone help me figure out how to use the basic Egan pattern, but knit into a hat? Thanks. We are so excited to know that we have a special sweater just for the Egans.

This site has been very enlightening. Thank you for this site. I love the Aron Sweaters. I have knitted several and love the detail that they have. I am not aware of which Aran sweater pattern I have used. I have not found a pattern for the Smith clan. Or is there one?

My mother was a Flannery. Her relatives came from Castlebar, Mayo, Ireland. I have always loved the Aran sweaters and the history behind them. One Christmas I knitted six different ones for each of my grandchildren. I was hoping to find a pattern for the Flannery name but it wasn't listed. I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me to which clan they might belong. We have many relations with Irish surnames, Brennan, McNulty, Dolan, Carney to name a few. The sweaters on your site are beautiful!

I learned to knit Aran patterns from a knitter I lived with in Dublin whiile performing on the Dublin stage years ago. I am knitting an Aran sweater for my son, who has just completed an application for Irish citizenship. He has many Irish cousins, and wants to know as much as he can about his Irish heritage. I was thrilled to find the O'Reilly clan pattern. Unfortunately, I couldn't find Carnahan (Kernochan) or O'Hare from Co. Down. Thanks for this wonderful website!

What a delight today when I received the Merino Wool Sweater I ordered. I have needed a new one for sometime since the one I bought when I was in County Mayo in 1985 had worn out. Your craftspeople are gifted and I will truly enjoy wearing such a beautifully knitted sweater. I will have the added benefit of teaching my Grandchildren the meaning of the different weaves. God bless all and may God keep you close to his heart. Thank you.

Hello from Texas! I've just now arrived at the Clanarns.com website and am looking forward to seeing more of it. My married name is McAninch, Scotch-Irish out of Country Antrim, but my Irish ancestors had/have the name of Scally. William Scally was my fifth great-grandfather and arrived in Virginia prior to the American Revolution on the brig Fanny. I think the ship sailed from Dublin, but I have no idea what county he might have come from. When we had the pleasure of visiting Ireland I found about 20 Scallys in the Dublin telephone book. I'd be happy to hear from anyone who knows of the Scallys or just wants to talk about Ireland and/or Texas and the U.S.

Thank you so much, this just adds one more item of information about my Irish ancesters, mainly from Kilmaley in County Clare. I am a desendant of Partick Hayes and Catherine Cormody that came to America about 1866. They were my Great-Great Garndparents, and I don't know if it is from a proud Irish Grandfather or if it is in the bloodline but all of the patterns in the Aran Sweater for Hayes so fit me and my feelings of life. Searching for husband's ancestors who left Co Meath for USA mid 1800's -think Ship Cambridge out of Liverpool to NY. We think it was a sailing schooner as the voyage took about 3 months and was arduous He was m to Maria Reburn, He worked as an engraver or in a bookstore in NY. Had a son George born there. After 2-3 years they moved to Fond Du Lac Wisconsin and he worked as a farmer and had 4-5 more children. One-- Thomas A. Casey was our grandfather. He m. Hermina Herrgesell( b Bohemia) of Ludington Michigan They ended up in Sultan Washington state. In Ireland all we know is County Meath. No documents or death certificates in USA. So wonder iif any one out there has this Casey and Reburn in their tree. Birth, Marriage or immigration records would be wonderful to get.. James was born 1810, died 1866. Maria born 1817 and died age 72 in 1889. They died USA but do not know what city or State. Would love to find living relatives. Joyce joyc@olypen.com

Most of the famous Irish clans are listed except mine? I am directly descended from Somerled Ghillbhrighde who was the father of the founders of the MacDonald Clan in Scotland. Somerled came over from Ulster in around 1165 so I can safely say that I am of IRISH origin. Please advise as to your records concerning this chap. Many thanks and kindest regards, Stiobhard.

Even though my married last name is German, my husband actually comes from the DeLongs and the "dirty Durkins" as his family lovingly calls them.My father's father(since my father died years ago noone knows my grandfather's first name) was involved in Politics in Connecticut, USA and was full Irish and his wife Viviene was full French, her people came from France and were French Bakers. On my Mother's side we have the Connolly's and the MacIntyre's.It's funny how here in America we view Ireland as our "Homeland" even though we are the generation of Americans and have never been there. There's one thing that I did teach my 3 sons, now grown men,and that is be proud of your heritage and if I see one black eye come through that door there had better be three!Wish I could have found my clan on your registry.
