I'd like to trace back my Irish ancestors. I'm the CEO of Celtic Bear Company, Inc. here in America, with a deep longing to know my clans history. I've a mind to work to build one of the largest most profitable corporations in America and would like to help my countryman by bringing over those that wish to work for the company. I'm looking at building a corporate office in Garrettstown, West Virginia or there abouts and will need the help of all those that are of Irish decent that wish to help us ban together to build a better life here in America. My father was Irish, and my mother was Slovac. I appreciate all inquiries and will work with those interested parties to build a world class holding company that will purchase marketing and sales companies. James H Baker

I am purchasing one of these sweaters for my husband for Christmas. He will be so pleasantly surprised. Our oldest son discovered this site and has wanted his Dad to have one for awhile. I believe that touching and wearing this is like reaching back and touching history. We wear and show our Clark name with pride and are thankful for each and everyone in the past that made the sacrifices for us. Oh, and the name is alive and well as I gave birth to four sons and we have one grandson so far!

A Clanaran sweater would make a wonderful present for my husband. However, I do not find the surname Tunney in your list. I believe the name comes from the Gaelic O'tonnaigh. Is this a clan you have a patern for even though it is not in your list? Thanks!

Stumbled upon your site. Cannot express how delighted I was to do so. Best tell your girls to sharpen their knitting needles as the Australian climes have been good to we McGee's & we've managed to breed like blow flys. 100% bog Irish (Antrim). Decended from a long line of Fenians (suppose I can say that now without getting arrested-fingers crossed-better than broken). Fasinated to discover the enigma within the weave. Want to know everything there is to know about it -especially Clan Mac Aodh

My grandfather came from Ireland with his father and I think some of his brothers. My father taught us to be proud of our Irish Heritage. I vowed one day to go to Ireland and I did! My husband and I visited in 2006 and the experince was the best I've ever had in my life. We took a tour and come to find our our driver/guide lives in the county my family came from! I wish we'd have exchaged addresses because he made us feel like family. We've talked about going back someday. Hopefully sooner than later. The people, the culture, everything is more than we imagined it could be. I fell in love.

My family's ancestry dates back to the 11th century. I have always known that one Irish tradition was to weave clothing in a manner that was representative of the Clan with whom you belonged. What a fabulous surprise to find a site dedicated to just that! The Aran sweaters will make fantastic gifts for my family members this holiday season. Thank you for keeping this important and historical tradition alive!

I have to come back one day and search, my great great great Grandfather left there with a young family in the early eighteen hundreds his sons, son also called Byron fought on the northern side in the American civil war. His son married a full blooded Cherokee Indian. And my father returned to England in 1952 from north America with his very young family after fighting the germans during the second world from Bovingdon airport with 33 bombing flights over Germany in B17s. Its from here, that I need to make that last step back to the old country. Before the sand glass runs out.

Hi! These sweaters look lovely. Question: Are the patterns set by clan/sept or by family surname? For instance, if I belong to the Ui Maine sept, would I have the same Aran knitting pattern as a Kelly (from Galway)? Go raibh maith agat! Slan!

Would like to know if there is a family crest for "Durkin". That is my paternal grandmother's maiden name. Also have Martin as my maternal grandfather as well as Tunney as my maternal grandmother. There is a Bamber as well.
