| What a great site, very informative and easy to use. My grandfathers name was Curran. When I was in Ireland last week I did discover the clan's pattern. I was thrilled to find in in your list. Thank you so much. One of my daughters married an into the Curtis family from Boston. I was disappointed not to be able t find their clan pattern in your listing. Maybe you will discover it and post it in the near future. Another daughter married a Sullivan and this you do have which makes me very happy. Thank you so much for providing such a good site which can be used with east. |

| My maiden name, as indicated above, is Mayo. Having the devil of a time finding any information relating to my Irish heritage. Wouldn't you think, with a whole Irish County named after us, it would be easy? Even finding out if it's a derivative of another Irish surname would give me a place to start. Perhaps we have a sweater pattern of our own! Thanks for the history of the Aran sweater. |

| No Sweater from the Heffernan clan? I spent most of last September in Ireland. My sister and I searched our roots, and the yarn stores. Knitting stores were scarce, they export their wool to China. To anyone going to search roots, I would suggest getting all the info you can at home first. The "Heritage Centers" are stingy with their info, and even some of the church records are not released for viewing. We had more luck at the local level, in the library. The trip was fantastic, we took a bus tour first for a week, then set out on our own. We brought back generic aran sweaters, but would love to know if there is one for our family. |

| I was very pleasantly surprised to learn that specific patterns of knitting identified the clans - somewhat similar to the tartan plaids. This is very entertaining for me and very much fun. I can only claim to be Irish on March 17th every year, but I appreciate the beauty of Ireland every day! and I'm glad to have learned a little more about the wonderful isle by visiting your website. |

| Came upon this site by accident, but am glad that I did as I am Irish/Indian (don't know what tribe) and like the other fellow who wrote earlier, I too, do not know from which clan I am from on the Irish side. So if anyone has any info about the O'Sullivan's or as they have it here in the U.S., Sullivan; please let me know.
It is a life dream of mine to some day visit my homeland of Ireland. Also, I'd love to acquire a penpal from Ireland also if anyone is interested. Nothing romantic or anything, just friends chatting across the waters.
Thanks for your time.

I came to Canada in 1973 but at home i knitted a lot of Aran Sweaters for family members, myself and my children.
There is nothing more beautiful than owning a pure aran sweater.
I go back home every year this year i will bring the aran wool back to knit for my grandchildren. |

| Your Aran designs are very attractive; and I learned a lot about the designs and their meanings. We always had Aran sweaters when i was growing up but I never knew that certain designs were indigenous to certain clans until today. I have found two designs that I could wear as i am descended from Irish folk on my mother's side.
I will be back to buy at least three of your sweaters before next winter I hope!! Wish I had found this site before my visit to West Virginia on 8th Feb. '08!! |

| This site came to me as a link today, almost as a gift. I did know about the Aran Sweaters having an Irish history, but to find such detailed information about the meaning of the sweaters was a real delight. This was new information. I have an Irish heritage that indeed instilled the love of the Irish name. Although I have no family left, the connection to this history reminded me that I have "clan history". There has been some early geneological research done that I have found, but have not searched more contemporary roots. Indeed I was inspired by your site perhaps to do this research. I was however, disappointed not to find the Fitzmaurice name among your names available for the Aran sweater.

While I was already aware of the Reagan clan crest, until I came across this web site I didn't know that the clans had their own sweater patterns. Now i wonder which clan's pattern is reflected in the sweater I bought many years ago (and still own).

| Good morning! I found your site while browsing knitting sites. While knitting is a passion of mine, so is genealogy. I have been researching the Moore side of my family for several years. I have traced them to Ithica, New York but sadly, not yet to Ireland. But I must say, I enjoyed looking through your website and it reminded me of the reason why I became interested in knitting. About a year ago, I was in the Dublin airport, waiting for my flight back the the US when I saw the most gorgeous lap blanket knitted in the Aran style. The cabling was just so pretty. And it is so warm. I live in Minnesota where it can get really cold, so I use it often in the winter. All this to say that I love your website because of the history that you have attached to each of the designs. I will certainly be doing some shopping here. Thanks! |

| We were in Ireland in July buying sweaters for the kids but never knew we could get them with our family emblems on them. I just bought a Whelan one for me and am wondering if anyone knows the origin of the name Rowe/Roe from County Westmeath. It was suggested it might have been Riordon or O'Riordon. Don't want to buy a sweater with that emblem if it isn't true. We LOVE Ireland and can't wait to go back. Anyone from the Mountmellick, Co. Laois area who would like to communicate I would like that. Didn't get much time to visit there but God willing we'll be back. Colleen |

| Does the Larkin Clan of Eire have it's own sweater pattern please? Until I got onto your site, I didn't even know there were Irish clan sweaters. Does anyone know if 'Jim Larkin', who's statue is, I am told, in Dublin, is a relative of mine? Best wishes to your knitters and good luck to all who wear them. |

| Hi, I found your site, while searching my family history, I believe one of my ggg grandmother's was a Kathleen O'Connor who married a James McLean (I believe was Scottish), anyway my father's family came to Australia as convicts and soldiers, my paternal ggg grandmother Kathleen, interests me greatly, I do not know much about her or her husband James, other than they came to Australia settled in the bush and bore their children their granddaughter I believe was my grandmother Alice Mary Hobbs.
I am a widow have twelve grandchildren and one g grandson, one of my granddaughters the "beautiful Laura" will be fifteen on the 8th January 2008, I would dearly love to order her a clan jumper, she would also like a scarf, I thought it would be nice to try and get both in the clan pattern of her gggg grandmother Kathleen. Thank you for a wonderful site, I will be in touch once I have measured Laura.
regards and thank you mavis jean bayliss symonds |

| I have recently become interested in family geneology and would like any information you might have about the Adair or Adare. I understand the original 3 brothers can to Paulding County, Ga
from northern Ireland before the old revolutionary war. First recorded birth in Georgia in 1826 was Bozeman H. Adair. Any insight is appreciated. |
