My late husband is a fourth generation Farrell, so will now start researching the Farrell clan . Just learning about the history of his forefathers being woven into a sweather and the meaning of the stitches as identity is certainly pride in an Irish heritage.

I married into the McCarter name. I knit and would love to make an aran sweater for him, but he hasn't liked any of the patterns I've picked out. I happened upon this site and he was jacked to the moon. Said he would love to have one like these. My only problem is that we can't seem to find his familial name or crest. He told me that his crest has a cross in it. Would his name be a SUB group of a larger family? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Last christmas I received a pattern and wool from my brother and sister in law. I have recently finished my sweater and of all the crafting and knitting projects over the years ( and there have been alot) I am most pleased with my beautiful Aran sweater. I did email you folks looking to adapt the pattern into a cardigan. You were not able to offer that service so it challenged me to do it myself. I was able to easily adapt it. Thank you for a fun great project. Do you offer pattern sized for children.

My grandmother (Catherine Fahey) is from Galway. Grandfather (James Twomey) is from Cork. On my fifth birthday my grandmother gave me an Irish Cable knit sweater she knitted herself. It was beautiful. I have not had one since then. In three years I will make a trip to the Aran Islands for my second sweater. It will be my present to me on my 65th birthday. Of course I will visit both counties of my heritage. I want to take in as much of Ireland as I can. I found a few places to stay while in Galway (March Cottage and the Store). If you know of any others please let me know. Thank you.

I'm Captain Larry Gross, recently moved from Key West, FL to Ireland, WV. Ancestry is half Irish and half German. The Irish side are Cavenaugh, Clark and Sullivan. Ancestry includes a 4 or 5 generation back grandfather, Captain John Cavenaugh who he and his brother left Wexford to fight in the battle of Derry. His brother got killed and he then settled in Donegal, becoming a sea captain. Modern DNA has traced 2 of my aunts and 3 first cousins to a King Cavenaugh who ruled the area of Wexford around the year 900 A.D.
