Hi, I much admire these beautiful sweaters, as well as the traditions behind them. I would like to knit one of the clan: Fitzpatrick. But I have not before done any knitting project that was complex - plan to learn. I would like to know if a novice knitter could learn the stitches of this particular pattern with relative ease. On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate the difficulty of this pattern?

Hi my name is Julie Cannons. My boyfriend is Brian Doyle. We live in Dundas, On. I've just been working on obtaining information on his family origins to correctly identify his family tartan. I'v been told they originated from the Danish Vikings of Wicklow and or County Sligoh. He named his farm Limerick Hall Farm. From what I can get from him he just liked the name and district of Limerick.

The UPS man just delivered two of the nicest sweaters I ever tried on, and the fit is perfect. Happy is too inadequate a term to define my glee at the feel. look, quality, and texture of the two turtlenecks you sent me. I have been looking for this fit and feel ever since I portrayed writer Ernest Hemingway in my graduate thesis monodrama in 1978. I shall go to bed a happy man, and though the winds of old man winter do not bite overmuch here in the Florida panhandle, I know I will be both warm and fashionable where ever I may roam. Thanks again for your muchly appreciated help,

My mother received her beautiful Aran sweater this afternoon. What made it even more exciting for her was that when it arrived she was visiting with her fellow seniors in the community room. The receptionist brought in the box from Ireland and my mother responded that it couldn't possibly be for her. She opened it up and tried it on. She says it's absolutely beautiful and a perfect fit. Thank you for your kind assistance. I know she will treasure it. Also, it was fun to track its movement using the UPS tool online. It arrived exactly on the day it was said to arrive. Thanks again.

My grandmother on my father's side last name was O'Neill. I am so happy that there is actually a pattern for that clan. It's very edifying to keep our traditions and pass them down through the ages. I don't think there esists a better web site then this one to buy beautiful precious soft wool attire. The prices are very resonable considering.

When in Ireland last month, I purchased the knitting pattern for our clan - Egan. I would love to knit hats for my 2 adult sons and husband using the pattern, but I need a hat pattern. Can anyone help me figure out how to use the basic Egan pattern, but knit into a hat? Thanks. We are so excited to know that we have a special sweater just for the Egans.

My mother was a Flannery. Her relatives came from Castlebar, Mayo, Ireland. I have always loved the Aran sweaters and the history behind them. One Christmas I knitted six different ones for each of my grandchildren. I was hoping to find a pattern for the Flannery name but it wasn't listed. I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me to which clan they might belong. We have many relations with Irish surnames, Brennan, McNulty, Dolan, Carney to name a few. The sweaters on your site are beautiful!

I learned to knit Aran patterns from a knitter I lived with in Dublin whiile performing on the Dublin stage years ago. I am knitting an Aran sweater for my son, who has just completed an application for Irish citizenship. He has many Irish cousins, and wants to know as much as he can about his Irish heritage. I was thrilled to find the O'Reilly clan pattern. Unfortunately, I couldn't find Carnahan (Kernochan) or O'Hare from Co. Down. Thanks for this wonderful website!

What a delight today when I received the Merino Wool Sweater I ordered. I have needed a new one for sometime since the one I bought when I was in County Mayo in 1985 had worn out. Your craftspeople are gifted and I will truly enjoy wearing such a beautifully knitted sweater. I will have the added benefit of teaching my Grandchildren the meaning of the different weaves. God bless all and may God keep you close to his heart. Thank you.

Hello from Texas! I've just now arrived at the Clanarns.com website and am looking forward to seeing more of it. My married name is McAninch, Scotch-Irish out of Country Antrim, but my Irish ancestors had/have the name of Scally. William Scally was my fifth great-grandfather and arrived in Virginia prior to the American Revolution on the brig Fanny. I think the ship sailed from Dublin, but I have no idea what county he might have come from. When we had the pleasure of visiting Ireland I found about 20 Scallys in the Dublin telephone book. I'd be happy to hear from anyone who knows of the Scallys or just wants to talk about Ireland and/or Texas and the U.S.
